YOU AND YOUR FAITH

“Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” (Hebrews 10:38)

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

HOW DOES A BELIEVER LIVE BY FAITH?

What does it mean to live by faith? In the simplest of statements, living by faith is living by Gods Word, not by feelings and emotions. You place your faith in God and in His Holy Word, trusting God to look after and take care of you as you walk obediently day by day. (Romans 10:17)

People with weak and unstable faith waver in their confidence of God’s Word, in His provision and His power. Like the waves of the sea that are controlled by the wind, they are tossed to and fro. Their stability is determined by circumstances and by how they feel. People who live by faith are not like this.

They are steady and stable. Feelings and circumstances have no bearing upon their confidence in God. They are single minded and stable in all they do (They are not double minded (James 1:8).

Hebrews 11 is the greatest chapter on faith in Gods Holy Word. It provides out great detail of how a Christian should live by faith. Here is Gods manual for living by faith.

a)  Living by Faith is approaching God as He dictates: through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by His example (Hebrews 11:4).

b)  Living by Faith is fellowship with God all throughout the day. Seeking to please and to praise God in all you do through your faith. By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”, for before he was taken, he had this testimony, that he pleased (walked with God) (Hebrews 11:5)

c)  Living by Faith is heeding Gods warning and obeying Him out of Holy Fear and reverence. By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. (Hebrews 11:7)

d)  Living by Faith is obeying God even when you cannot see the way. By Faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going (Hebrew11:8).

e)  Living by Faith is trusting God to guide and provide for you as you walk day by day.  By Faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise (Hebrew 11:9).

f)  Living by Faith is keeping your eyes focused on the eternal city of God, the place Christ is preparing for you. Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God (Hebrews 11:10).

Keeping your faith in God is the key essential for you living a victorious life. The Bible says, “Without Faith, it’s impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6)
